Just weeks before the U.S. Figure Skating Championships, the Skating Club of Boston hosted a send-off dinner for its 18 qualified skaters and their families. The event featured shared excitement, dining on various dishes, and cakes wishing attendees luck. Young skaters nationwide eagerly anticipated competing in Wichita, where prominent coaching and development opportunities awaited. Coaches emphasized how vital these experiences are for younger competitors, impacting their future in the sport. The dinner showcased both camaraderie and dedication to their shared passion for skating as students made sacrifices, such as switching to virtual learning, to focus on their training.
"When you are in the younger categories, that is the highest you can reach," said Kalle Strid, highlighting the significance of competing at the national level for young skaters.
Jared Sedlis reflected on the shared anticipation among skaters, recalling how he and Jinna Han enjoyed the send-off dinner, indulging in both chocolate and vanilla cakes.
