Linda Colla, 75, discussed her journey with gum disease that led her to extract her own teeth over several weeks. Living with chronic pain from her teeth, she ultimately replaced them with dentures, a process that spanned decades. She attributes her dental issues to lifestyle factors and recalls her earlier dental experiences with NHS and local anesthetics. Colla's story offers a poignant look at the struggles some face with dental health, capturing both the physical and emotional challenges of such personal procedures.
Extracting my own teeth required wiggling and twisting. It took me a couple of weeks to get each one out, because they just loosened and loosened.
The three teeth in the box are yellow, certainly, but they don’t look too bad. There was nothing wrong with the teeth; it was gum disease.
It was probably too much coffee, too much wine, and smoking. Over the years, my real teeth were gradually supplanted by false ones.
It sounds very dramatic pulling them out. There was some pain on extraction, but they had been causing me constant pain before that.
