The 'often chaotic' Romford nursery where children 'frequently collide'
Briefly

The recent Ofsted report highlighted significant concerns about Foundation Nurseries, which received an inadequate rating across four key areas including safety, education quality, behavior management, and leadership. Inspectors pointed out unsafe conditions like open doors to potentially hazardous areas and unaddressed outdoor hazards. Staff shortcomings in risk management and inconsistent behavior guidance contributed to chaotic environments, affecting children’s emotional and social development. Manager Tami White expressed disappointment at the findings, which revealed a critical need for improvement in safeguarding procedures and teaching methodologies to ensure a safe learning environment for children.
During the visit, inspectors observed incidents where they said risks to children attending the nursery had not been thoroughly assessed and addressed.
The education watchdog reported that staff at the premises 'lack a clear understanding and awareness of how to identify and manage risks to children's wellbeing'.
In the report, the Ofsted inspector states that children 'frequently collide while riding wheeled toys outside' as well as snatching toys indoors.
Staff were found not to consistently apply boundaries to support the emotional development of children in their care, resulting in 'inappropriate behaviour'.
