Kevin Osei, a 26-year-old from Newham, received a British Empire Medal (BEM) for his dedication to helping underrepresented young people achieve career success. As the founder and CEO of Bridging Barriers, a social mobility charity established in 2020, Osei has positively influenced over 2,000 youths through mentoring, networking events, and masterclasses. Despite his recognition, he emphasizes that his motivation lies not in rewards, but in transforming lives, hoping to inspire others from his community as a visible role model.
I just hope that this will help me to be a more visible role model to young people from my community, as many of them need this.
I've never done the work I do for rewards or recognition, but when a commitment to transforming the lives of young people in your community is acknowledged, it really is a great feeling and a huge blessing.
