The New York Times sent a cease and desist letter to Anthony Salazar, the creator of a Connections game site, accusing him of trademark and copyright infringement.
Salazar insists he built the archive using the NYT's publicly available API and states, 'It's not like I am getting paid for it or competing with their users (of which I am one).'
The NYT spokesperson stated, 'Anyone looking to play the original Connections game can do so for free on The Times's own website,' emphasizing their stance on IP rights.
With three business days to comply or face further legal action, Salazar plans to take down the archive but wishes to keep the creator tool active for educational use.
