The Pompadours pub in Harold Hill, once celebrated for its lively atmosphere, struggled with management instability, resulting in 17 managers in three years. After being designed by architect Samuel Arthur S. Yeo and opening in 1956, it earned the nickname 'The Flying Bottles' due to its rowdy clientele. Historical anecdotes, such as a two-day drinking spree that ended with police intervention, reflect the pub's colorful past. Closed in March 2016, it was ultimately approved for demolition in favor of 21 new homes in 2021.
