The FTC notes its efforts include crackdowns on illegal telemarketing, enacting rules against impersonation, and applying its Telemarketing Sales Rule to AI-generated scam calls.
According to the FTC, there was a dramatic drop of about 33,000 complaints about unwanted calls in the last fiscal year, a decline of over 50 percent since 2021.
The FCC's new anti-spoofing protocol and crackdown on AI-generated robocalls have aided telecom efforts, leading to better verification of caller ID information for consumers.
