The fediverse is getting its own TikTok competitor called Loops | TechCrunch

Loops is designed to empower users by ensuring they retain full ownership of their content, unlike many mainstream platforms. Users will only grant Loops permission to use their content while keeping all rights.

Developed by Daniel Supernault, Loops is primarily focused on integrating with the existing fediverse framework, aiming to create a social activity layer for user engagement similar to that of TikTok.

In contrast to traditional models, Loops will rely on user donations and grants for funding, thus avoiding reliance on investors or advertisers which preserves user privacy and data.
