The cosy pub serving a 'nostalgia and butter-laden crumble'
Briefly

Jon Rotheram credited the pub's success on the continuity in its interior design, which give the Marksman a sense of warmth. We work very hard to keep the pub looking very much like a pub and familiar, while also giving it a contemporary feel with the more modern dining room.
The Good Food Guide visited on a rainy Friday evening, and said that the Marksman glows with pubby welcome. Decked out with a mahogany bar and leather banquettes, the review adds that the ground floor is typically alive with end-of-the week chatter.
Pubs on the list were described as those that serve up relaxed, warm vibes, good local beers and even better cooking—in essence, the perfect hangouts as the autumn draws in.
The pub is noted for a wine list that bristles with interest - a natural Catarratto from the coastal Barraco winery in Marsala, Sicily is recommended. Chicken and girolles pie and roast cull yaw are among the dishes on offer.
