Marielle and Mireille Landry, identical twins, often pondered their birth mother while growing up in a closed adoption. Their curiosity was piqued when, in a chance encounter at a mall photo booth, they found themselves meeting their birth mother, Nicole, after recognizing her from annual photos sent to the adoption agency. This surreal reunion unfolded after their adoptive mother initiated contact, leading to an emotional dinner where they learned more about their birth parents, including their birth father's life in Zambia.
Our story could be a movie, Marielle says.
My mom looked at us and said, 'Girls, this is your birth mom,' Marielle recalls.
It was such a surreal moment, she says. Nicole asked us if we had any questions but I couldn't think clearly.
We both had so many questions, Marielle Landry, 33, tells TODAY.com.
