The Taoiseach will meet with his Coalition leaders, Tánaiste Micheál Martin and Green Party leader Roderic O'Gorman, to finalize a polling date before Christmas.
Mr. O'Gorman stated last week he wanted polling day to be November 29, with Mr. Martin signifying support for holding the election this year.
The agreement to hold a general election before Christmas coincides with Fine Gael's struggles, highlighted by Heather Humphreys's unexpected decision not to run.
Ms. Humphreys expressed her decision was influenced by her declining health, stating, 'As I get older, my health and energy levels are not what they were.'
