Surf Therapy Is the Latest Trend in Active, Accessible Adventure
Briefly

Newport, Rhode Island, has emerged as a key destination for surf therapy, beneficial for families with children having special needs. Gnome Surf, founded in 2019 by Chris Antão, provides on-the-water sessions that improve the lives of children with various disabilities. The organization has grown dramatically, from only 10 surf therapy programs to 200 nationwide, driven by a demand for both physical fitness and emotional wellness support. Gnome Surf not only operates in Rhode Island but also organizes trips to other locations, fostering connections among families and promoting social well-being.
