James Gunn addressed criticisms surrounding the teaser trailer for the upcoming Superman film, defending David Corenswet's portrayal against claims of poor CGI. Some viewers expressed concerns about Corenswet's appearance in the flying scenes, suggesting a lack of realism in his face. Gunn clarified that the visual effects are genuine, noting that a wide-angle lens might distort perception. He emphasized the real backdrop of the tundra and the team's commitment to creating a deep and engaging DC universe, highlighting their respect for the character's legacy.
There is absolutely zero CG in his face. People's faces can look different when you put a wide angle lens up close. The background plate in Svalbard is 100% real as is David.
We're honored to be the stewards of these DC characters we've loved since we were children. We look forward to collaborating with the most talented writers, directors, and actors in the world to create an integrated, multilayered universe.
