Streets plagued by graffiti get mural makeover

This artwork is a response to community complaints about graffiti, turning neglected spaces into vibrant murals that reflect local culture and history.
The project is fostering community pride and a sense of belonging, making our neighbourhood feel more connected and welcoming, according to Shiraj Miah.
Commissioned by housing associations, the new murals feature local wildlife and historical references, aiming to strengthen community identity and delight residents.
The collaboration involved local artists and schoolchildren, connecting the younger generation to their neighborhood’s rich social activism history.
