At age 77, Stephen King announced he will close three radio stations in Bangor, Maine, that he has owned for decades, citing financial difficulties.
King expressed pride in having supported local radio, stating that he loved being an independent owner in an era dominated by corporate broadcasting.
Ken Wood, the stations' general manager, lamented the end of an era saying, 'Independent, locally owned radio stations used to be the norm... we're lucky we had these three as long as we did.'
