Ireland is bracing for a potentially catastrophic storm described as possibly one of the most severe the country has ever encountered. Wind gusts exceeding 130 km/h are expected, prompting authorities to issue Red wind warnings across multiple counties. The National Emergency Co-ordination Group anticipates widespread power outages affecting over 385,000 people, and public transport will cease operation until conditions improve. Residents are advised to shelter in place and prepare emergency kits, as dangerous travel and significant property damage loom due to extreme winds and coastal flooding.
Public transport will also not operate until conditions improve.
Met Éireann is warning of a "danger to life" brought on by extremely dangerous travelling conditions.
