Starting today, NYC residential buildings have to follow these new trash guidelines
Briefly

"New York City will finally remove the mountains of black bags from our streets, reclaiming public space and improving quality of life," reads an official statement by the NYC Department of Sanitation.
The new rule requires residential buildings with one to nine units to use specific trash bins, reinforcing the commitment to keeping sidewalks clear of garbage.
Required cans must be 55 gallons or less, feature a secure lid, and can be ordered by property owners and building managers across the five boroughs.
Officials suggest purchasing a 35-gallon bin for single-family homes, while multi-unit buildings are recommended to opt for a 45-gallon option for better capacity.
