Starbucks increased its return-to-office mandate from three to four days per week and added a manager relocation requirement to Seattle or Toronto by July. The company unveiled a $1 billion restructuring that includes laying off 900 nonretail employees and closing an unspecified number of stores, including at least two Seattle locations. A one-time voluntary exit program with cash was offered for employees who do not want to comply. Many employees expressed concern and reconsideration of their long-term plans. CEO Brian Niccol said the changes are intended to support a large-scale turnaround and human connection.
