"A man who crashed his car at speed into the back of an articulated lorry walked away from the scene where his friend lay dead in the passenger seat, a court has heard."
"The car, which was driven by Jake Kelly (22), was trapped underneath the lorry trailer in the wake of the crash, which occurred in July 2023. The passenger side of the car was covered in tarmacadam which poured out of the back of the articulated lorry upon impact, Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard on Tuesday."
In July 2023 a car driven by 22-year-old Jake Kelly collided at speed with the rear of an articulated lorry. The passenger in the car was killed and was found dead in the passenger seat. The vehicle became trapped underneath the lorry trailer after the impact. Tarmacadam poured out of the back of the articulated lorry and covered the passenger side of the car. Emergency services responded and the crash scene involved significant debris. The incident was presented at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on Tuesday. The driver walked away from the scene while the passenger remained deceased.
