Briefly

Sous les ailes is a bioclimatic house designed in Barbizon, near Fontainebleau, with a focus on environmental sustainability and integration into its natural surroundings. The original stone outbuilding is enhanced and simplified, while two concrete extensions are removed. The new wooden and hemp-lime structures create transparent and light-filled living spaces. Key design elements include a cantilevered roof to control sunlight and materials that promote energy efficiency. The overall vision reflects a commitment to eco-friendly living in harmony with the serene forest setting.
The owners envisioned a bioclimatic house that harmonizes with nature, incorporating generous glazing and sustainable practices for a light-filled, eco-friendly living experience.
By demolishing extensions and enhancing the stone structure, the architects prioritize transparency and integration of the house within its serene, forested context.
The new volumes utilize a mixed structure of wood and hemp-lime blocks, emphasizing their commitment to environmentally-conscious materials and energy self-sufficiency.
