Snow-ice weather warning issued for four counties as Ireland braces itself for plunging temperatures, sleet and hail

"A snow-ice warning will come into effect at 7pm on Monday for counties Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, and Leitrim and will stay in effect until 8am on Tuesday morning."

"Met Éireann meteorologist Brandon Creagh said the low-pressure system to the north-west of the country might bring rain today. As it hits the cold air...it's going to bring some wintry falls."

"Wintry falls are mostly going to be confined to higher ground, so snowfall is not looking like it's going to be a widespread thing."

"Temperatures this week will be a few degrees below the average for November, with ranges from -1 to 12 degrees across different regions."
