Snap has accused New Mexico's attorney general of intentionally seeking out adult users for sexually explicit content to portray its app as unsafe, questioning the validity of the state's claims.
The decoy account was the one that sought out and added a user named Enzo, while the attorney general's team actively looked for accounts with dubious usernames, according to Snap's court filing.
Snap denied allegations of mishandling child sexual abuse materials, asserting they do not store such content and are compliant with reporting protocols to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
In response to Snap's claims, a spokesperson for the New Mexico Department of Justice criticized the company for downplaying critical issues raised in the lawsuit and prioritizing profits over child safety.
