Senator Martin Conway resigns from Fine Gael after being arrested when found drunk and 'on all fours' on Dublin's O'Connell Street

Fine Gael member Mr. Conway was arrested on January 22 for being in a heavily intoxicated state caused by a mix of sleeping tablets and alcohol. Found unable to get up on Dublin's O'Connell Street, he was taken to Store Street Garda Station and released without charge. Following this incident, he announced his resignation from the Fine Gael Parliamentary Party and expressed remorse to his family, colleagues, and supporters, emphasizing that he let himself down.

Mr. Conway stated he was arrested for being intoxicated due to sleeping tablets and alcohol, expressing regret to his family and colleagues for his actions.

The Fine Gael politician confirmed his resignation from the Fine Gael Parliamentary Party following his arrest on O'Connell Street due to extreme intoxication.
