For the first time in its 14-year history, 18 Reasons is expanding to host paid cooking classes in the East Bay, overcoming location challenges and leveraging partnerships.
Sarah Nelson, the executive director of 18 Reasons, expressed excitement over the expansion by stating, 'We've been offering our free programming in the East Bay since the beginning. But we wanted to start dipping our toe in the East Bay and do more programming.'
The basic knife skills class, which is part of the new paid offerings, focuses on essential techniques for beginners, including how to choose and maintain kitchen knives.
Elise Hayashi, associate director for the Mission kitchen, emphasized the collaborative effort by saying, 'We thought it would be a perfect place to start offering the paid classes in the East Bay'.
