Kintsugi is looking to offload and automate calculating and filing sales tax for companies. By connecting to billing and payment systems, it determines tax liabilities and handles registrations.
The company has experienced significant growth, raising $10 million in its Series A funding rounds, increasing its valuation from $40 million to $80 million.
Pujun Bhatnagar, Kintsugi's co-founder, became interested in the sales tax space during Meta's 2018 changes and has firsthand experience in the complexities of tax compliance.
Bhatnagar emphasized that the sales tax landscape is complicated, describing the U.S. as 'an amalgamation of 52 different types of little countries' with varying laws and jurisdictions.
