Padraig Nugent was the sole occupant of a car involved in a crash at Culleenmore, Kilglass in the early hours of Sunday and was pronounced dead at the scene. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced. Nugent played for Kilglass Gaels at all levels, helped secure a Roscommon intermediate county title in 1999, and remained actively involved with the club after his playing career. The club announced it will fly its flag at half-mast in his honour. Local residents described him as well-liked and hardworking. Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses or dash-cam footage and provided contact details for Boyle Garda Station and the Garda Confidential Line.
