""It's shocking news for them. We think of them all at this stage and join with them in trying to support them in whatever way we can at this stage and join with them in whatever way we can to support them at this stage,""
""It's really sad news and it's very upsetting for the family. He'll be very sorely missed by his family and close friends.""
Padraig Nugent died in an early-morning single-vehicle crash at Culleenmore, Kilglass. He was the sole occupant and was pronounced dead at the scene after Gardaí and emergency services attended. Funeral details have yet to be announced. Nugent was well-regarded locally and played with Kilglass Gaels at all levels, contributing to the Roscommon intermediate county title in 1999 and remaining an active club member after retiring. The club expressed immense sadness and will fly its flag at half-mast. Local residents and former Senator Eugene Murphy described him as well-liked and hard-working. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage.
