According to the Orange County Register, Dickies, the 102-year-old Texas-founded workwear brand known for its jumpsuits and rugged pants, is planning to leave Fort Worth and call the Orange County city of Costa Mesa home by spring of 2025. Dickies is owned by VF Corp., which also counts lifestyle and apparel brands North Face, Timberland, Kipling and Vans in its portfolio.
A VF spokeswoman, Ashley McCormack, told the Register that Vans and Dickies hope to join forces on a corporate campus where "creativity and best practice sharing can thrive through great collaboration and connections." This collaboration highlights the strategic aim behind the headquarters move.
According to data from Buildremote, 158 companies have left California for other states between 2020 and 2024, with a large majority going to Texas. It cites the postpandemic work-from-home phenomenon as another reason why companies are choosing to relocate.
