Prep roundup: De La Salle, without its star, falls to Arizona power at MLK Classic
Briefly

De La Salle faced an uphill battle in its matchup against Sunnyslope after star player Alec Blair was sidelined due to a shoulder injury. Despite this setback, junior Ibrahim Monawar led the team with 15 points and a commendable performance. The first half was competitive, but Sunnyslope’s Darius Wabbington found his rhythm, propelling his team to a significant lead in the third quarter. Although De La Salle rallied in the fourth, it was not enough to overcome a twelve-point deficit, ending the game at 53-46.
We didn't play great tonight, Schroeder said. We gotta get better and obviously with taking two losses in a row, we hit some adversity.
De La Salle kept the score close in the first half, keeping the high-powered Sunnyslope offense led by 6-foot-11 sophomore Darius Wabbington under control.
The Vikings ended the third quarter on a 10-2 run as the Spartans struggled to hit shots, leading to a 12-point deficit.
The Spartans made it interesting in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to five after Monawar made one of two free throws.
