In Premier League 2, they're trialing something around the goalkeeper holding the ball for more than six seconds. If they hold it for eight seconds and don't release it, it results in a free-kick.
Gary Neville stated that goalkeepers failing to adhere to the six-second rule is 'the biggest delay in the game.' He noted that they often hold the ball for nine, ten, or even fourteen seconds.
