Beverly Police Chief John LeLacheur reported that an apparent drowning victim was discovered near the Bass River Yacht Club, prompting a response from police and fire teams.
Upon receiving the call around noon, first responders from Beverly discovered a body in the water, leading to the involvement of the Beverly Fire Department Dive Team.
The deceased was retrieved from the water and subsequently transported to Beverly Hospital, initiating an investigation led by the Beverly Police Department and the Essex County District Attorney's Office.
A preliminary investigation into the incident has indicated that there were no signs of foul play, although the investigation is ongoing.
