Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed that Piccadilly line services will remain suspended between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge until mid-January 2025 due to extensive damage caused by heavy leaf fall this year.
The leaf fall this year has been unprecedented, with the leaves staying on trees longer and then falling in large quantities, overwhelming our usual processes for clearing the tracks, which led to train damage.
As part of the new timetable effective January 13, weekday peak services will be reduced between Uxbridge and Acton Town due to the age of trains being taken out of service.
Weekend closures will be implemented on portions of the Piccadilly line to facilitate preparations for new trains set to be introduced later in 2025.
