Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg sharply criticized Rep. Nancy Mace for attempting to take credit for a $195 million infrastructure grant, which she voted against.
Buttigieg's response, simply captioned "Um", went viral, highlighting the irony of Republicans taking credit for the very spending they oppose.
The White House also mocked Mace's tweet, reinforcing the notion of Republican politicians leveraging government funding while opposing the sources of that funding.
Public reactions included sarcastic remarks about how Republican politicians can vote against funding yet still claim credit for the benefits that arise from it.
