Officers discovered the crash involving a motorbike and a pedestrian on Kennington Lane around 3.20pm on Wednesday, December 18, resulting in life-threatening injuries for the pedestrian.
Paramedics attended, and a man in his 50s was rushed to hospital, while his family has been informed and is receiving support from specialist officers.
The motorbike rider stayed at the scene and was also taken to hospital with minor injuries, underscoring the serious nature of the accident.
Detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are leading the inquiry and are urging witnesses to come forward with information or dashcam footage.
