Many users worried that the service might have been hacked, with comments like, 'Has PayPal been hacked? No access possible for lots of us...' indicating concerns over the outage.
The number of outage reports spiked quickly to over 6,000 worldwide, particularly from the UK cities of London, Manchester, and Birmingham.
