Paris train drivers call strike over 'bug-filled' online holiday calendar
Briefly

Unions for train drivers on Paris's RER A and RER B lines have announced a strike for February 14th, primarily due to frustrations with an ineffective scheduling software called Orchidee, which has disrupted shift planning. Union representatives claim the app, launched in December, is causing significant issues for the 870 drivers, forcing them to take unrequested leave and failing to confirm holiday requests. With Valentine's weekend expected to attract many tourists, the potential disruption raises concerns about public transport and airport accessibility in Paris.
This software was rolled out at the beginning of December, and it's full of bugs, said union representative Arnaud Moinet, from La Base-RATP union.
This app, Orchidee, is supposed to help staff schedule their rest days and reconcile their personal and professional lives. But so far, it has been a disaster.
Staff are forced to take leave at times they didn't ask for, or can't confirm their next holiday. The management is inundated with calls to correct problems.
The weekend of February 14th is usually a busy one in Paris, as tourists flock to the 'city of love' for a Valentine's weekend.
