On Wednesday, people gathered across France to honor Notre-Dame, standing in silence as church bells rang out at the exact time the fire had erupted.
The rector celebrated the return of the bells, expressing hope that 'the sky, which had fallen silent, will once again ring with this harmonious sound.'
Virginie Bassetti, a bell artist, meticulously created decorative motifs in wax for the new bells at Notre-Dame's Foundry, ensuring they did not alter the notes.
After lengthy restoration efforts, Notre-Dame’s eight bells were returned from Normandy, heralding a new chapter for the cathedral and its community.
