Nuala Courtney "passed peacefully" at 7.20am on Tuesday morning, as announced by her son Brendan. She is survived by her four children and many grandchildren.
Brendan has been open about his mother's battle with Alzheimer's disease and her time in the nursing home, highlighting the family's challenges during her illness.
Many people paid tribute to Nuala, calling her a "wonderful" and "beautiful" lady, the "brightest light", and a "glamorous woman" appreciated by all.
In a statement on RIP.ie, Ms Courtney's family expressed that "she will be very sadly missed by her loving family and many friends."
