Order and Chaos Entwine in Abstract Embroideries by Kristine Stattin
Briefly

Kristine Stattin, an artist based in France's Occitanie region, creates vibrant, abstract embroideries using a combination of hand and machine techniques that intertwine long lines with tiny knots. Her work displays a tension between order and chaos, reflecting her belief that art is an internal journey about surrendering to the moment and exploring the unknown. Stattin often incorporates additional materials like appliqué and paint, allowing her instincts to guide the creative process. Her color choices are inspired by nature and the environment, further enhancing the texture and energy in her artworks.
My work is all about the process, being in and surrendering to the moment, embracing the unknown, not being attached to outcomes and expectations, and bringing the threads to life.
Each new piece is an internal journey, a sort of enigma that asks to be solved, and I use the needle and threads to capture a feeling, movement, and life itself.
I am interested in an intuitive, yet mindful process, to see where the threads will take me, to see and respond to what happens, and to work with eventual mistakes.
I embrace those mistakes as they often lead to new ideas that I bring into future work.
