Ben Wallace highlighted the unique naming convention used for iOS videos, where they were automatically titled IMG_XXXX, leading to difficulties in searchability and millions of unindexed videos.
The simplicity of early iOS uploads contrasts with today’s platforms, allowing for intimate, low-res captures of life that evoke nostalgia, similar to discovering old Polaroids.
Inspired by Wallace, programmer Riley Walz created a website showcasing 5 million IMG_XXX videos, revealing a haunting glimpse into everyday moments from the 2010s.
