Oil spill and crash caused severe' delays at Dartford Crossing

The Dartford Crossing experienced significant delays on January 30 due to a crash and an oil spill from a broken down HGV. The incident occurred around 2pm on the A282 near West Thurrock, leading to lane closures on the M25 between junctions 1A and 31. The oil spill was addressed by contractors, allowing the lane to reopen by 5pm, after which traffic delays of 45 minutes and four miles of congestion were reported. There were no injuries associated with the crash, and updates were minimal from police and ambulance services.
At approximately 1.40pm yesterday a broken down HGV resulted in a lane closure between Junction 1A of the M25 and J31 anti-clockwise.
A National Highways spokesperson reported that severe delays were caused by an oil spill, resulting in 45 minutes of traffic congestion and four miles of backup.
