Nvidia begins deprecating Maxwell, Pascal, Volta cards
Briefly

Nvidia has announced that support for its older graphics card architectures—Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta—is now feature-complete following the release of CUDA 12.8. This change is likely to affect data center operators and scientific institutions that continue to use these older GPUs, with models dating back nearly eleven years. While current features will still function, future releases may lack documentation and could lead to compatibility issues. Users should be aware that the active support for older hardware is fading, similar to the previous discontinuation of support for Kepler.
"Architecture support for Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta is considered feature-complete and will be frozen in an upcoming release," the chipmaker said in its CUDA 12.8 release notes.
"Eventually users will find themselves stuck running older unsupported software and may run into compatibility issues with future operating system releases."
