Noel Gallagher: behind the scenes and on stage in pictures
Briefly

During the 2018 US tour, we filmed with director Mike Bruce in New Orleans at the weirdest, wackiest house full of bizarre memorabilia, including a spaceship-type escape vessel. When I asked Noel to pose next to it, he took the opportunity to get into character, showcasing his playful side amidst the eccentric setting. This moment encapsulated the spirited atmosphere of the tour and provided a window into Noel's personality, beyond just the music.
This was the first time I had photographed the arena after the Manchester bombing. I remember sitting on stage, crying, as Noel faced the emotional weight of having 'Don't Look Back in Anger' sung back to him by a crowd that had been through such a traumatic experience. It was a powerful reminder of the healing and unifying power of music in the face of tragedy.
Noel wanted the shot for his Gibson ES-355 launch to reflect his artistic vision, opting for a fisheye style that emphasized darkness and simplicity. He called me over to his studio, emphasizing the time constraint of just 10 minutes. By shutting off warm lights and utilizing natural backlight, we captured a striking image that ended up becoming the main promo picture for his tour, proving how collaboration can align creative visions.
