At a time when people think that we can be characterized as less than important simply because of who we love or how we see ourselves or what color we are, it is very dangerous, it is very un-American.
These organizations are about creating safe spaces-spaces to uplift and affirm our value, irrespective of who we are. They provide comfort, affirmation, protection if necessary, and educate people on their rights.
