Lawan Shi'isu Adam described the incident as a 'horrific tragedy' citing that the driver lost control of the tanker causing it to tip over.
Locals, overwhelmed by the thought of free fuel, disregarded safety measures during the incident, leading to a massive fire after the explosion.
In Nigeria, fuel prices are extremely high, pushing many in poor rural areas to resort to dangerous means of obtaining fuel.
