The girl was walking home from Brighton Academy Middle School in Syracuse when she was mistakenly identified and cuffed for allegedly being involved in a car theft.
After nearly seven minutes in handcuffs, deputies conceded that they had the wrong girl, telling her, 'I'm sorry about it, but you matched the description pretty clearly.'
The girl’s mother expressed her outrage, explaining that this incident stripped her daughter of the freedom she once enjoyed walking to school, saying, 'I can't make sense of it.'
