New LFB policy limits automatic alarm responses to free up resources
Briefly

The London Fire Brigade has announced it will no longer respond to automatic fire alarms during daytime hours, aiming to improve resource allocation and fire prevention.
This change follows a public consultation and will apply between 7am and 8.30pm, allowing the brigade to focus more on operational training.
The decision stems from statistics revealing that false alarms constitute 40% of calls, with less than 1% of alarms actually indicating real fires.
Assistant Commissioner Craig Carter emphasized the brigade will still respond to alarms at premises where people sleep, ensuring safety in residential environments.
