Netflix has cancelled The Sandman
Briefly

Netflix has decided to conclude its adaptation of Neil Gaiman's The Sandman with an upcoming second season, with showrunner Allan Heinberg stating the series was focused solely on Dream's story and there was not enough material for a third season. This cancellation comes amid multiple allegations of sexual assault against Gaiman, prompting discussions regarding how such controversies can impact creative projects. Other adaptations of Gaiman's works, including Amazon's Good Omens and adaptations of The Graveyard Book and Anansi Boys, have also faced setbacks due to these allegations.
As per showrunner Allan Heinberg, 'The Sandman has always been focused exclusively on Dream's story...we knew we only had enough story for one more season.'
The timing of Netflix's move to cancel The Sandman links it to the multiple allegations of sexual assault that Gaiman is currently facing.
In a recent blog post, Neil Gaiman stated, 'I have never engaged in non-consensual sexual activity with anyone. Ever.'
Following Gaiman's allegations, Amazon halted production of Good Omens and reworked it into a single finale episode.
