The National Weather Service has issued a beach hazards statement warning of an increased risk of sneaker waves and rip currents for all Pacific Coast beaches.
The advisory, effective from Saturday evening through Monday evening, highlights unsafe swimming conditions and recommends that beachgoers keep pets away from the water.
The public is advised against turning their backs to the ocean as waves can be unpredictable and form rapidly.
Conditions will be in effect from 7 p.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Monday, affecting beaches from Big Sur to the Marin County coast.
