Ben Melham, a 42-year-old from Surrey, achieved a Guinness World Record by visiting 42 museums in London within 24 hours on October 25. This endeavor surpassed the previous record of 33 museums set in Delhi, India. Melham aims to promote greater engagement with museums, emphasizing their importance in understanding cultural heritage. Following this achievement, he plans to pursue a new goal of visiting the most museums over a year. Guinness World Records editor Adam Millward praised Melham's efforts as an example of London's vibrant museum culture.
"Museums are essential to our understanding of who we are and where we come from. Through this record attempt, I hoped to raise awareness and inspire greater engagement with museums and the incredible collections they safeguard."
"It’s a reminder to locals and tourists alike that there's always something new to explore and learn about, albeit ideally at a slightly less frantic pace than this record demanded of Ben."
